Glossary: Consensus


Consensus
: a decision making process where a group carefully considers each group member's opinions before deciding on a course all group members can accept.

This is different from unanimity because not all group members have to agree with the chosen course for the group to move forward, though each group member may prevent the group from proceeding if he/she feels strongly enough.

Did anything big happen this week? Nothing, right? No big landmark decisions in the Supreme Court or anything, right? It would be an understatement to say that I am stunned that Chief Justice Roberts voted to uphold.

: a set of assumptions that employees of an organization share, which manifest through observable artifacts (e.g., formal versus informal dress codes; open versus closed work spaces) as well as shared values and beliefs.
