Applied research
The shadow you see next to the curve is me.
My talent for applied research was what got me into this industry at such a young age. At that time I wasn't asked to consult to organizations' leaders, and organizations certainly weren't going to ask a teenager to help them change their culture. I knew I had a skill they valued, though, and so there were important roles for me and the chance to expand that role. Because of this and my natural inclination towards math, I developed my knowledge of research methods and statistics and jumped in. On occasion I still help organizations research questions that are interesting to them using quantitative statistical methods.
Yes, in the end that means I am a geek.
