When I was a kid I really loved rap music. I grew up in Brooklyn and it was all around me. It was exciting and it was coming into its own as a distinct genre of music. Looking back, though I still enjoy the classics, it’s hard for me to appreciate most of the music I loved then in the same way as an adult.
